Victor's birth date was obtained from the Baptismal Records of St. Jospeh, Erie, MI. His godparents were Peter Petit and Angeline Labadie.

Victor's brother, Rollie, stated his brother Victor, though illiterate, was quite wealthy. Victor develed a system of colored strings and papers to signify reasons for borrowing money and by whom with the amount that was borrowed kept in cans and bottles with the strings and papers.

His grave is in St. Joseph Cemetery. Erie, MI and is marked with a polished granite tombstone and it appears he also had his parents' tombstones made of the same material as his was. They are burried next to him. His brother Alex Knaggs is also buried next to him in an unmarked grave.

Victor is said to have lived in a house just north of his parents on Dixie Rd. When he died there was a mass scramble by people who knew his wiays, looking for buried treasure in his yard and house. The house no longer stands as it was burnt down after his death.

2087 Wattie L. Eldrdge Jarvis was buried in Holy Sepuchre Cemetery. She died October 19, 1947, of a stroke with cerebral paralysis, Section 14. Lot 386, grace 12. She purchased at least 5 cemetery lots on May 31, 1929. Her husband Francis Xavier Jarvis died March 27, 1929. She was living at 5024 Middlesex at the time of the puruchase. Hers ons William and Willard are buried in these plots along with perhaps three of her Jarvis grnadhcildren; Irvin J, 5 mos, John Jarvis, age 2 yrs, and Mary, age 7, the last with severe burns.

Her last son, Erwin Jarvis owned the the lots in joint. He was proably living with his parents at the time of his father's death and this may be the address that Francis Xavier Jarvis lived at when he died a couple of months before.

The June, 1880 deral Census of Berlin Township has the following entry. While the family entry does not contain Wattie, who may be a servant girl (she is about 16) in another household at this census, it does suggest proximity to the Jarvis Family and Francis X. Jarvis who married a Wattie Eldridge. Wattie had a daughter named Clarisse, who would thus be named after her grandmother. This Clarisse in adult life was Mrs Clarisse Brown Harker, of Payne Ave, Dearborn, MI, in the 1960's who gave Patrick L. Tombeau information on the Francis X. Jarvis branch of the family (see Francis' entry)

2089 Well, I think it well established by several sources that Ralph was buried in South Rockwood and since he was a practicing Catholic it would have to be in the only Catholic cemetery in South Rockwood, that is St. Mary's.

If these statements are correct, we should offer your correspondent at Holy Redeemer some remuneration to check the funeral records from their beginning point in 1880 to his death in 1911, 31 years altogether, to see if the Jarvis family name comes up for any burials in South Rockwood. If the graves are marked, then we are a step closer to finding a possible burial plot, since many families bought more than a single plot. This research might yield the death dates of his four children who died of diphtheria. You have a date for this article you found at Monroe Genealogical Library.

The one drawback from you not seeing the records personally is that we know the married names of several Jarvis women and Holy Redeemer staff does not. It would probably be best the first time around just to ask for a canvas of the Jarvis name in 31 years of funeral records.

Good morning Germaine, Bishop Hanchon asked to look for the information you are looking for and this is what I found: Our sacramental records starts on the1880 so we don't have any records before that, the only thing I found on him was his burial information and this is the way it is entered in the book:
Raphael Jarvis died on January 13, 1911 and was buried on January 16, 1911 in Rockwood, MI, but it doesn't give the name of the cemetery, it also says that he was born in Canada, he was 72 years old when he died and he died of Pneumonia; that it all we have, and to answer your question about people researching in the record? the answer is no because there are confidential information that only Church authorized staff can look at it. I hope this help you a little, if you should have any questions or want me to check more, please feel free to e-mail me. God Bless.

2093 When Pepin II became Mayor of the Austrasian Palace in 680, his only rival for power was Mayor Ebroin of the Neustrian Palace. In 687, the Neustrian people begged Pepin to rid them of their mayor, so Pepin opened talks with Ebroin and the boy-king Theuderic III, however battle soon occured and both Ebroin and Theuderic were defeated at Tertry. Pepin thus inherited the Palaces of Neustria and Burgundy, where he placed his sons. In 714, Pepin died of a fever.

Tanguay, Vol 1, p. 522 of his Genealogical Dictionary states that Jacques Robidas dit Manseau was a sergeant in the Company of the Marquise de Crisfy.

Jacques' father was a master shoemaker.

See also Tanguay, Vol. 6, p. 603 for this family's entry.

http://cjutras.org/CJROBIDAS-J.html#F004153 website indicates tha the "dit" name "Manseau" indicates he is from LeMans France.

JACQUES ROBIDAS
