  • Notes
    • I-5 John Tombow, Jr., born in 1845 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, enlisted in the Civil War on 7 November 1862, as a private, and mustered out, as a private, on 25 June 1865. He served in Co. K, 110th Regiment of the Ohio Voluntary Infantry (Civil War Roster of Ohio Soldiers, Vol. VIII, p. 43).

His description on his enlistment record states that he was dark complected, had grey eyes, dark hair, was 5'7'' at enlistment (two inches less than average height for a male at that time). He was a farmer by occupation. He enlisted at Mansfield, Ohio. He served duty with the Pioneer Corp according to his muster roles in the National Archives.

John Tombow, Jr., died unmarried and is buried in E. Greenville, Ohio, Cemetery. His grave is marked with a stone without a date of death or birth. As this stone appears to be army issue, the Veterans Affairs Administration in Washington, D.C., which handles the records for applications for grave markers, may have the date of his death.
