  • Notes
    • William Fitzsimmons was naturalized as a citizen on September 29, 1894. It is believed he came with his father, Peter Fitzsimmmons, Sr. to America on March 19, 1887 from County Durham, England, where he was born in the Framwellgate section of the city of Durham. (SeeWilliam's and his father's naturalization records.

A 1881 English Census indicates he was 16 at the time, making his birth date in the years 1864-65. The 1900 Federal Census statees his parents were married
40 years making their marriage in 1860. William was their eldest child and so may have been born earlier than 1864-65.

Natualization records in Scranton Court House indicate he arrived in Ny from England on 11 September 1886. This would be 6 months before his father, Peter Fitzsimmons, Sr., if this is the correct record.

My father, Leo Thomas Tambeau, used to quote William, a life long bachelor, as saying after a meal: "I have had an elegant suffciency".

According to Dora Robert Leeks, his niefe, He died in 1924 of alcoholism.
