Notes |
- William Earl LaVoy lived at his Stateline Home on the Ohio side for 48 years. He died March 5, 1977. His land was deeded to him by his father, Moses LaVoy, Sr., who divided all of his land whose boundaries were Michigan State Line, Dixie Highway, State line Road, and the railroad tracks to the west among his surviving children.
After purchasing the two properties facing State Line Road from his siblings, William named the road leading to his house, Joann, after his granddaughter Joann King who lived next door.
His half brother Frederick laVoy (by Moses' first wife, Eunice de Shetler) lived north of his property across the creek that divided their properites, but still in Ohio, purchased the rest of Moses' land in Ohio from his siblings.
While the Moses LaVoy homestead is now torn down and replaced by a collision business, Frederick's small house still stands as a real estate office.
William had 11 children by two wives, 44 grandchildren and at this writing (1996) he had 88 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great- grandchildren and 2 great-great-great-grand children.
The above information was supplied by Helen LaVoy Jensen Rudnicki, William's daughter, who lives in Toledo, OH.
He married twice: (1) Bertha Perry, 30 March 1910, St. Joseph Chruch, Erie, MI. She was the daughter of Charles Perry and Flora Horusky. (2) to Pearl L. Martens on May 15, 1922. William died March 5, 1977 in Toledo, OH. He may have been a twin. See his brother George LaVoy's entry.
