Francois de la Voye was the son of Jacques's first marriage to Marguerite Angelique Garand. He was born 8 April 1709 at Baie-St-Paul. He was the grandson of Rene de la Voye, Jr., the immigrant ancestor of the New World LaVoys.

He married at the age of 27 on 25 June 1736 at Petite-Riviere. His bride was Madeleine Simard, the daughter of Paul Simard and Genevieve Gagnon.
Madeleine was 18 at the time of her marriage, having been born 23 February 1718 in Baie-St-Paul. She died at the age of 42 in Baie-St-Paul on 3 November 1760.

Francois de la Voye I was still living in Baie-St-Paul at the time of his son Etienne's marriage in 1776. He would have been 67 years old at the time.
