  • Notes
    • According to Denissen, Antoine followed his widowed and remarried mother to Detroit. She had remarried to Pierre Picote de Bellestre, a French Army Officer, who was the brother-in-law of Alphonse Tonti, Commandante of Fort Pontchartrain at Detroit. Pierre was ordered to the Fort at Detroit in 1721 and brought his family, including his step children, with him.

(One of Antoine Beaubien's daughters is said to have got wind of a plot by the Indians to get themselves into the Fort by subterfuge and then massacre its inhabitants. She warned the militia because she is said to have been in love with one of the English officers at the Fort.)( See Francis Parkman's Conspiracy of Pontiac.)
